Its time to kickoff today's contest. First person to come up with the answer we are looking for, wins an activation code. Every hour from when the contest starts that no one figures out the answer, I will post a new comment to the page giving you a hint. So if you are struggling, check back here.

Question:

Find the relationship between the clue and the Ingress Investigation Board. EDIT - More specifically we are looking for a person, place or thing that ties the clue to content we have seen @ www.nianticproject.com.

Clue:

The clue is hidden within this post.

Winner:

Tolstyak won the code by figuring out the connection we were looking for in about 30 minutes. Read the steps to solve the contest below.

Answer:

The code was hidden as an attribute of the HTML span tag around the word "here" in the statement, "So if you are struggling, check back here." The clue was a base64 encoded string, b3cubHkvZkw1c04=, that when decoded gave you ow.ly/fL5sN, which is a tiny url. Entering that url in your browser took you to Google Maps at the exact location of the "Native Son's Monument" which was created by Douglas Tilden who also created The Mechanic's Monument which sits 3 blocks away. The Mechanic's Monument was in the video from Ben Jackland, the blogger who bought the buggy cell phone that can be watched @ www.nianticproject.com.

Good luck!

THE ARTIST OF THE NATIVE SONS STATUE MADE THE MECHANICS MONUMENT WHICH THE GUY WITH THE BROKEN PHONE GOES TO.

Holy crap. Caps because I'm basically shouting IRL.

Nicely done, I will email you the activation code. :) I will update the original post with the steps to discover the answer.

Right idea, but no. :(

They were both created to help people get involved in Ingress: "So if you are struggling, check back here."

the relationship to the page is where the answers/hints are

805 3NIA OPS

On both sites - ingressfieldguide.com and nianticproject.com - you can get an activation code!
Ps: If you are lucky :-P

Mana? - Check. Cooldown? - Check. The ability to summon a dragon? - Priceless!

P.A Chapean or lunger

Ingress :-)

Both pages contain the following scripting...

<script type="text/javascript">inj(document,"script","g-po","http://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js");</script>
</div>
<script>inj(document,"script","twitter-wjs","//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js");</script>
</div>

They both don't exist. Meaning, no clue, and no board called "Ingress Investigation Board".

They both contain clues. Hidden clues to be exact.

They can both get you an invitation to the game.

Niantic

WE NEED ANOTHER!

Tomorrow! :)

I found the hidden code but I had no idea (and still don't) how to decode it to get the URL in the first place. If all the daily questions are like this, I may just have to wait until this thing is not a private beta. Mad props to Tolstyak for figuring that out!

Not all of them are going to be this technical. In fact, tomorrows will be much less technical. :)
